ATBU receives NUC accreditation for 21 academic programs

The National Universities Commission (NUC) approved the accreditation of the university's 21 academic courses and all courses in the seven Colleges of Education and Polytechnics affiliated to the university.

In
addition, all nine courses in the university's World Bank-supported project, the Center of Excellence for the Project to Improve Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards (SPESSE-CE), have also been fully accredited.

Similarly,
the commission approved the establishment of three additional faculties in the university, namely the Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Health Sciences. These three faculties will run a total of 56 different departments. This information was announced by the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Sani Usman Kunya. He said the approval came at a time when ATBU wanted to achieve excellence in all academic fields.

According
to Professor Kunya, the university applied to NUC for accreditation of 25 courses, of which 21 were fully accredited, three of which were provisionally accredited, while one course (Urban and Regional Planning) was denied accreditation.

“We
are currently making every effort to ensure that all the unfortunate issues facing the Ministry of Urban and Regional Planning are fully resolved,” the Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries affirmed.

He
said the university has already taken all measures to successfully launch new faculties and departments. Please recall that the University's School of Veterinary Medicine has successfully started this academic year.
